Living With a 1300 EFI Conversion. ( SWIFT GIT to the Uninitiated)

If you use your Zuk on the road you will be well used to the long
queue of traffic building up behind you as you crawl your way uphill and down
dale. Well there is another solution this problem other than going for the
1600 Vitara conversion, which will not only give you a greater power output
than the 1600, but will not effect your insurance premiums by an arm and a
leg, and that's to got with the EFI conversion.
In standard configuration it outputs 101bhp and that's more than enough to
keep up with or ahead of the normal road traffic at 4000rpm which is only
half way through the Rev range. Add a K&N filter and a Free Flow exhaust
and you start pushing the 110 to 115bhp mark.
Off road, which lets face it is where the Zuk real comes into its own, is
another matter altogether. First of all you need to remember that you now
have over 60% more power available to you (Big Tyres No Problem), so the only
thing now that will limit your progress is a lack of grip, Some thing that
I found out by over revving the engine and causing massive wheel spin. Its
taken me a little while to master this (not quite there as yet), but was shown
the way by Mark Rhino Edwards, when he co drove it at the AWD Halnaker meeting
and won First Overall. (Must be the Driver).
So the big question is, am I pleased with it, well I'll tell you when I stop
smiling.
But if you're considering an engine swap, this is definitely one to add to
your list of options.

Don.
